GoControl Bulbz Z-Wave Dimmable LED Indoor Flood Light

Picture of GoControl Bulbz Z-Wave Flood Light

I chose this device because it was one of the few Z-Wave light bulbs I could find that could be purchased in Canada at the time. It is a basic white flood light with a controllable brightness level.

This device generally works well, but I find that it will sometimes be a little slow to react to a command, or will not always respond when multiple commands are issued in a short time frame.

There is, however, a really annoying issue that I experience with this device: it will sometimes become unusable after a power outage. When that happens, here is the procedure I have to follow to make it usable again:

  1. Completely remove the device from Home Assistant (I first write down the name and entity ID so I can use the same after re-adding the device).
  2. Using a physical switch, turn the device off, and then on, 4 times within 4 seconds (off - on - off - on - off - on - off - on).
  3. The bulb should blink twice to show that it has been reset. If not, repeat step 2.
  4. Turn the device off again.
  5. In Home Assistant, go to the Z-Wave JS integration, and click Add Device.
  6. Turn the device on again. It should blink twice when paired.

This issue is enough for me to not recommend this device.
