Dome Wireless Z-Wave Plus Door/Window Sensor (DMWD1)

This device serves the same purpose as the Ecolink Z-Wave Plus Rare Earth Magnets Door & Window Sensor. I however had trouble with this device that I did not have with its Ecolink competitor.

I bought 3 units of this device. Two of them have been working flawlessly for over a year. Unfortunately, the third one was defective as it would eat a battery every couple of weeks, which seems to be a common issue if Amazon reviews are to be believed.

Another complaint that I have about that device compared to the Ecolink alternative is that you have to be way more specific about the way you install the 2 parts on your door and your wall for it to work. Only one of the long sides of the sensor part is actually a sensor, and the magnet part cannot be oriented perpendicularly to it. In comparison, the sensor by Ecolink has 4 working sides, and the magnet can be oriented either parallel or perpendicular to the sensor.

I do not recommend this device. My advice is to go with the Ecolink sensor instead, even though it is more expensive.
